Many small-town police departments now boast the same weaponry once wielded by U.S. military units in Afghanistan — including tanks with 360-degree rotating turrets, battering rams, and automatic weapons. Those weapons are today deployed against Americans suspected of crimes in their own homes. Every day, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams connected to local police conduct 124 paramilitary-style raids in the U.S., according to a new report by the American Civil Liberties Union. One of them recently drew national attention when a SWAT team in Atlanta burst into a private home and threw a live flash grenade into a 2-year-old’s crib, severely injuring the toddler. Most raids by SWAT teams are conducted against suspected drug dealers, but they’ve also been deployed against a private poker game; a gay bar in Atlanta; a New Haven, Connecticut, bar suspected of serving minors; and even people suspected of credit card fraud. “Neighborhoods are not war zones,” says the ACLU in its report, “and our police officers should not be treating us like wartime enemies.”
Why do police have SWAT teams?
The first SWAT team was created by the Los Angeles Police Department in 1967 and reserved for the most extreme circumstances: riots, hostage scenarios, and active-shooter or sniper situations. But the “war on drugs,” coupled with the sense of danger promoted by tragedies like the Columbine massacre in 1999 and the 9/11 terror attacks, encouraged police departments even in small towns and rural areas to create special units equipped and trained for worst-case scenarios. “There’s violence in schools, and there’s violence in the streets,” said Sheriff Michael Gayer of Pulaski County in Indiana. “If driving a military vehicle is going to protect officers, that’s what I’m going to do.”
How do police get military equipment?
In recent years, the Department of Homeland Security has provided $35 billion to local police throughout the country to help buy weapons for “the war on terror.” The rest can be traced to the Pentagon, which has off-loaded $4.2 billion of surplus armored vehicles, rifles, and equipment to police departments…

Police
in Illinois promised a full investigation over the weekend after a
Chicago-area officer shot a family’s dog in the head as its 6-year-old
owner watched. <br />
Mother Nicole Echlin <a href="http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/Suburban-Family-Says-Dog-Fatally-Shot-by-Police-in-Front-of-6-Year-Old-Girl-268739511.html">told WMAQ</a>
that their 1-year-old shepherd-mix Apollo escaped on Friday, and the
family was returning home just as officers from the Hometown Police
Department were arriving. <br />
“We were in the lawn and the cop already had his gun out,” Echlin
explained. “I tried to call him in the house and he just stood there
staring and I guess he showed his teeth and the cop just shot him, right
in front of me and my 6-year-old daughter.”<br />
The daughter immediately “started screaming,” Echlin recalled.<br />
Neighbors who witnessed the shooting insisted to WMAQ that the dog had not tried to attack the officers. <br />
“The dog wasn’t doing anything. I didn’t see it doing anything, it
wasn’t barking,” Nicco Torres observed. “Then I saw a cop shoot the dog,
the dog fell to ground on the lawn. I saw through the window the dog
was on the floor shot but the dog was still moving, it was moving its
legs like it was trying to run but it was laying down.”<br />
Apollo’s co-owner, Kristy Scialabba, who is Echlin’s 23-year-old
sister and works at an animal care center, said that the dog was not
aggressive. <br />
“I don’t know why they would pull out a gun they had so many other
options,” Scialabba pointed out. “And to shoot a dog in front of a
child, that’s going to scare her for the rest of her life.”<br />
In a statement on Hometown Police Department’s <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HometownPolice">Facebook page</a>, Chief Charles Forsyth promised a “full investigation.”<br />
“It would be too early for me to make any statement without reviewing
all the facts,” Forsyth said. “I can assure the people of Hometown that
a full investigation of the incident will be conducted.”<br />
Apollo died on Saturday after being treated at an animal hospital. <br />
“We’re just completely broken and we really don’t know what to do,”
Scialabba lamented. “That was my boy, that was my dog. This is hometown
you don’t hear anything like this. Nothing ever happens here.”<br />
The family is using a “Justice for Apollo” <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Justice-for-Apollo/1528190237404852?hc_location=timeline">Facebook page</a> to promote a rally outside the police department on August 3, and to sell T-shirts. <br />

A New York resident died Thursday after police officers put
the man, who was asthmatic, in a chokehold before apparently slamming
his head on the ground.<br />
The New York Daily News obtained exclusive video of the incident, which shows Staten Island man Eric Garner, 43, <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/staten-island-man-dies-puts-choke-hold-article-1.1871486" target="_hplink">begging officers to let him breathe</a> as he lies on the ground helpless.<br />
Now, his family is demanding accountability from the NYPD.<br />
Police said Garner, who was a married father of six children, <a href="http://www.newsday.com/news/new-york/eric-garner-died-from-heart-attack-during-arrest-nypd-says-1.8837654" target="_hplink">died of a heart attack </a>during
the arrest, according to The Associated Press. The NYPD said Garner had
been seen selling untaxed cigarettes, and that he had been arrested
before for the same offense. <br />
In the video, Garner denied the allegations and asked a plainclothes officer why he was stopped. <br />
“Every time you see me you want to mess with me," Garner told cops in the video. "I’m tired of it. It stops today!” <br />
When
Garner refused to put his hands behind his back, and asked one officer
not to touch him, two others moved in to make the arrest.<br />
Video shows at least one officer putting Garner in a chokehold and slamming him on the ground. <br />
Garner can be heard screaming "I can't breathe, I can't breathe!" before going quiet.<br />
Multiple witnesses to the death expressed anger at the NYPD.<br />
“They
jumped him and they were choking him. He was foaming at the mouth,”
22-year-old Ramsey Orta, who took the video, told The Daily News. “And
that’s it, he was done. The cops were saying, ‘No, he’s OK, he’s OK.' He
wasn’t OK.”<br />
Another witness said Garner was <a href="http://www.silive.com/news/index.ssf/2014/07/he_was_a_great_dad_says_family.html" target="_hplink">"absolutely not selling cigarettes,"</a> Staten Island Live reported.<br />
Those
who knew Garner described him as a "gentle giant" and "a big teddy
bear," according to the publication. His family members, including his
wife Esaw Garner, said her husband suffered from chronic asthma.<br />
Police told The AP that an investigation into his death is ongoing. The NYPD said Garner <a href="http://www.silive.com/northshore/index.ssf/2014/07/we_got_to_have_justice_woman_s.html" target="_hplink">"took a fighting stance"</a> and "absolutely resisted arrest."<br />
In 1993, then-Commisioner Ray Kelly <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/1993/11/24/nyregion/kelly-bans-choke-holds-by-officers.html" target="_hplink">banned the use of chokeholds</a> by officers, the New York Times reported.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4524182616794246400.post-47843259603103472712014-07-18T12:49:00.006-04:002014-07-18T13:31:51.571-04:00THE COPS HAVE BECOME JUDGE, JURY AND EXECUTIONER!<h1>

Things somehow turned very ugly on Thursday morning when two
Pennsylvania state constables attempted to serve a man with a warrant
because the man had accumulated 31 unpaid parking tickets.<br />
The two law enforcement officials approached the man, Kevin McCullers, in the garage at his residence in a suburb of Allentown, <a class="external" href="http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/lehigh-county/index.ssf/2014/07/both_constables_opened_fire_in.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">reports The Express-Times</a>. It was about 7:30 in the morning.<br />
McCullers’s girlfriend, Hafeezah Muhammad, <a class="external" href="http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Pa-Constable-Shoots-Fleeing-Suspect-267490701.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">told NBC Philadelphia</a> he was in the car because he was headed to Dunkin’ Donuts.<br />
The constables positioned themselves on both sides of McCullers’s
car. One of them told McCullers to turn the car off, and he did. There
was a short conversation. Then, according to Lehigh County district
attorney James Martin, one of the constables opened the driver’s side
door of the car.<br />
McCullers responded to this action by restarting the car. He began
backing out of the garage with the car door ajar. With that, the
district attorney said, the two constables drew their guns and began
shooting.<br />
One constable shot McCullers, 38, in the back. The other one shot out the vehicle’s left front tire.<br />
One of the constables told Martin they pulled out their guns and shot
the unarmed McCullers because they felt threatened while standing in
his garage as he fled.<br />
Muhammad, the girlfriend, noted that the constables could have walked up to the door of their residence to serve the warrant.<br />
“They never knocked on the door! No nothing,” she told NBC
Philadelphia. “I just heard the gunshots! He pulled the car out of the
garage and all I heard were gunshots,” she told the NBC station<br />
Muhammad indicated that McCullers may never walk again.<br />
“For parking tickets?” she said. “It’s insane.”<br />
Martin, the district attorney, expressed concern about the fact that a
constable – an elected state official — shot a man and possibly left
him paralyzed over some unpaid parking tickets.<br />
He promised a full investigation into the use of deadly force and, possibly, criminal charges against the constables.<br />
The district attorney also suggested that the position of constable —
a Pennsylvania oddity, of sorts — is troubling because people who hold
the job are poorly prepared and largely unaccountable.<br />
“Although they receive training, they really operate under no one’s
direct supervision,” he told NBC Philadelphia. “And that I wish was
something that could be cured.”<br />
At the same time, Martin refused to identify either constable. He
also took the opportunity to suggest that the shooting incident might
not have occurred had McCullers entered into a payment plan to pay the
money he owed.<br />
Meanwhile, McCullers has been admitted at a local hospital.<br />

<span class="postBold"><u>Origins of Separation of Church and State</u></span> <br />
<br />
<br />
Congress
shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of
speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to
assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. <br />
~First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America <br />
<br />
The phrase “separation of church and state” does not appear in the first
amendment, nor does it appear in any of the foundational documents in
American history. The actual phrase is widely used, and incorrectly, by
those who would push for the abolition of any religious practices within
any
body of government. <br />
<br />
We do not
want in America what we had in Great Britain. We don’t want one
denomination running the nation. We will not all be Catholics, or
Anglicans, or any other single denomination. <span class="postBold">We <u>do</u> want God’s principles, but we don’t want one denomination running the
nation.</span> <br />
~Congressional Records of our American founders, June 7th – September 25th, 1789 <br />
<br />
As we can see from the quote above, our forefathers were in complete
understanding that God’s principles were desired within our government,
but the
purpose of the first amendment was to prohibit an institutionalized
church, to which all must attend. <br />
<br />
So where did the phrase “separation between church and state” come from? <br />
<br />
In the year 1801, in Connecticut, the Danbury Baptist Association heard a
rumor that the government was planning on making the Congregationalist
denomination the official denomination of the nation. However Thomas
Jefferson wrote the Danbury Baptists and told them, <span class="postBold">”the First Amendment has
erected a wall of <u>separation between church and state</u>”.</span> <br />
So the first true quotation of the aforementioned saying was simply
telling a religious organization that there would be no nationalized
denomination
– not that the practices of religion would be prohibited within the body
of government, nor the expression thereof. <br />
<br />
<br />
"Had the people <u>(the Founding Fathers)</u>,
during the Revolution, had a suspicion of any attempt to war against
Christianity, that
Revolution would have been strangled in its cradle. At the time of the
adoption of the Constitution and the amendments, the universal sentiment
was
that Christianity should be encouraged, but not any one sect <u>(denomination)</u>…. In this age, there is no substitute for Christianity…. That
was the religion of the founders of the republic, and they expected it to remain the religion of their descendants." <br />
~House Report from Judiciary Committees of House and Senate, May 27th, 1854. Senate Report reflected the same ideals <br />
<br />
<blockquote id="quotebox">
"The
great, vital, and conservative element in our system is the believe of
our people in the pure doctrines and divine truths of the Gospel
of Jesus Christ."</blockquote>
<br />
~Judiciary Committee Declaration, one month after original House Report <br />
<br />
As we can see from the quotes above, directly taken from our founding
fathers and documents, the separation between church and state was never
intended as a religious divide. Nor was it intended to drive a wedge
between religion and governance. <br />
<br />
The purpose for this post was to guide the ignorant, and bring to light
the flawed logic of those who would use the aforementioned concept
against the
<span class="postBold">TRUE</span> foundation of Christianity being the true recognized, and universal religion, of the United States of America. <br />
<br />
The purpose is to correct the lies stating our forefathers were not Christians. <br />
<br />
God-Bless. Let truth reign. Let ignorance be denied. <br />

is usually used as a decongestant, but did you know that Vicks has a
lot of other uses that might be useful in a survival situation?<br />
Here’s some of the unusual uses for Vicks VapoRub:<br />
<b>Apply on your feet</b><br />
When you apply Vicks on your feet, you will get a nighttime cough
relief. All you have to do is rub it all over your feet and then put on
socks.<br />
<b>Decongestant</b><br />

<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
You’re probably thinking that inflationary devaluation of your savings or paying negative interest rates on cash deposits is about as far as government is willing to go in its efforts to keep funding its debt-laden endeavors. They certainly wouldn’t consider touching the bank accounts of hard working Americans. Only the Europeans have the audacity to go after the savings of the average depositor.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
Well, the Europeans and apparently now the Georgians, too. And we’re not talking about the western backed country that went to war with Russia in recent years.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
We’re talking about the U.S. state that claims “Wisdom, Justice, Moderation” as its motto.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
According to Simon Black at <a href="http://www.sovereignman.com/trends/introducing-the-newest-tactic-for-governments-to-raise-cash-14566/" style="color: #000099; text-decoration: underline;" target="_blank">Sovereign Man</a>, the State of Georgia has taken the unprecedented step of lowering the threshold on inactive or dormant bank accounts to just twelve months. What that means to average Georgians is that if you fail to utilize your account within one year your deposited funds will be confiscated by the state.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
Though all 50 states have regulations pertaining to dormant bank accounts, Black says that Georgia takes the grand prize in how swiftly they’re prepared to go after your money.</div>
<blockquote style="background-color: #c1d0c2; border: 1px solid rgb(137, 165, 139); padding: 10px;">
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
Georgia’s Disposition of Unclaimed Properties Act sets the <b>threshold as low as one year.</b></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
In other words, if you have a checking account in Georgia that you haven’t touched in twelve months, the state government is going to grab it.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
So much for setting aside money for a rainy day and having the discipline to never touch it.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
If you’ve locked away money for your children’s savings or unforeseen emergencies, your government might be sharpening its knives ready to dig in.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
And just like central bank policies punish savers with interest rates that don’t come close to keeping up with inflation, these policies provide disincentives for people to be responsible and save money.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
It’s just another example of how the entire system is rigged against the individual… and all the more reason to divorce oneself from it. Physical gold, anyone?</div>

<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
In 2013 Australia passed similar legislation, but their threshold was set at three years.</div>
<blockquote style="background-color: #c1d0c2; border: 1px solid rgb(137, 165, 139); padding: 10px;">
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
“In the last 12-months since the legislation was passed,” says Simon Black, “the Australian government has seized a whopping 80,000 accounts totaling A$360 million.” The implications of the new law are staggering. In that single year Australia confiscated more money than in the previous five decades combined.</div>

<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
Governments on the local, state and federal level are getting desperate amid underfunded retirement plans and bloated budgets. Going forward they’ll have no choice but to get more and more creative at how they “generate” revenue.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
We hope you’re keeping an eye on that IRA. You haven’t really touched that for twelve months either, have you? Congress has already held hearings on whether or not they <a href="http://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/government-lays-groundwork-to-confiscate-your-401k-and-ira-this-is-happening_02132014" style="color: #000099; text-decoration: underline;" target="_blank">should reappropriate retirement savings</a> and pool them into a government run investment fund. You know, kind of like Obamacare.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
Or how about that parcel of land you own out on the countryside for weekend camping trips and hunting? You haven’t been out there for a while, nor have you really built anything on it, which must mean you’re not using it anymore…</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
There is historical evidence that suggests that government, when left with no way to pay for their massive budgets and spending, will resort to extraordinary methods to ensure the money keeps coming into State coffers.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
As the Roman empire <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/martin-armstrong-what-destroyed-rome-2011-5" style="color: #000099; text-decoration: underline;" target="_blank">was collapsing</a> because of unfunded pension liabilities for its military the government devalued its currency by removing 90% of the silver content from its coins. Roosevelt <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_Order_6102#Prosecutions_related_to_Executive_Order_6102" style="color: #000099; text-decoration: underline;" target="_blank">confiscated gold</a> during the Great Depression and imposed stiff penalties for those who didn’t comply. Struggling to keep up with its massive budget deficits, last year France passed their “millionaire tax,” which authorized the government to levy a 75% tax on companies that pay out more than €1 million in salaries.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
Devising innovative ways to separate the citizenry from its money is business as usual within legislative institutions.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
Georgians who haven’t touched their accounts since last year should either withdraw their money or, as government officials and banks would prefer, go spend it on something and put that cash to work. Otherwise you face the real possibility of having those assets seized.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
As for the residents of the other forty-nine states, keep an eye on what your respective state legislators are doing.</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;">
Chances are a lot of light bulbs in Capital cities around the country just popped on.</div>
