Have you ever noticed in our society that basically everything we do as individuals, gender or as a group seems to be competitive. My point being for example the rivalry between men and women. Males and females seem to be at odds with each other over a number of issues, one being jobs. another one politics and yet, this unlikely category raising children. In my opinion everything in our lives seems to pit one against another.Women thinking they can do a better job, when men say they can. On a broader scale, our government which espouses to be for the people, are actually just the opposite and the people likewise against the government. Let's go back,way back to the most egregious war of all times, the Civil War. The irony in that name seems to be there was nothing civil about it! Over 600,000 men were killed and scores wounded, brother against brother,father against son etc.. So maybe that's where this thing, one against another really got it's boost. I see today that even the police who in the past, have championed the phrase to serve and protect, has been diminished by the we against them attitude. When you think about it,even the place you work contains a we against them attitude concerning management and hourly workers. Don't get me wrong I don't mind competitiveness, I do believe it is beneficial to our society, in turn it helps to promote progress. I don't want to seem naive by saying, man it would be so nice if we could drop the we against them attitude and come together in our attempt to promote a better life for all people..
