I remember years ago when the idea of the middle class would one day begin to shrink and go away, has in fact, become reality,as scary as that seems. But take a look around, jobs are disappearing and the power of the middle class has been greatly diminished. The gap between the rich and the poor has widened. In my opinion the powers to be who control finances and the such, have been working for years on eliminating the middle class and leveling the playing field with the rest of the world. The middle class today work just to survive and many are just a paycheck away from devastation. The American dream is slowly fading away and just keeping you're head above water has become the new mantra. I wish I had the answers to all these problems but I don't. College diplomas are becoming of no effect, graduates can't find a job in there field and end up working in service jobs just to survive, with the older generation grabbing their social security at 62 so they can afford put food on the table. Most major Corps. have raised their company retirement age in some cases, to 80 year old! The backs of the middle class have been severely injured if not broken and the load is unbearable.
