Republicans’ approval ratings worst in 25 years

They got rid of scandal-tainted Majority Leader Tom DeLay, airport shoe-tapper Larry Craig and prurient instant message typer Mark Foley, but they just can't seem to shake the gloom.

Congressional Republicans scored just 36 percent approval ratings from the American public in a CNN/Opinion Research poll released Friday.

Fifty-four percent of Americans viewed Republicans in Congress unfavorably, while 41 percent said they were rankled by Democrats. Democrats had a 53 percent approval rating to Republicans' 36.

IT'S A FORK IT'S A SPOON IT'S A .........WEAPON ?

HAS GOD GIVEN THEM THE NOD?

So let me get this right , the Conservatives are unhappy with the way the bible is written. They say it's to liberal and want to eliminate all those unfair nasty liberal scriptures that don't pass conservative muster, for example.

"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."

That famous line, attributed to Jesus in Luke 23:34, could well apply to the folks at Conservapedia -- the "conservative version" of Wikipedia -- who have embarked on a project to rewrite the Bible.

In an effort to rid the Good Book of "liberal bias," the group has set up the Conservative Bible Project, which aims to rewrite the Bible from a modern, conservative perspective.

"Liberal bias has become the single biggest distortion in modern Bible translations," the project's Web site asserts.

And the line quoted above is one of the group's targets for deletion in a truly "conservative" Bible. The "forgive them father" quote "is a favorite of liberals but should not appear in a conservative Bible," Conservapedia states.

Evidently the Conservative right has not read the Bible  thoroughly, for instance: Revelation18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Just A heads up to the Conservapedia folks.

Newsmax: Dreaming of overthrowing Obama
Should Americans shut down extreme political talk, or just ignore it?

Newsmax's John L. Perry suggests the military could overthrow Barack Obama.

Best opinion: America Blog, Hot Air, Moderate Voice

There are plenty of people spewing Obama hatred these days, said John Aravosis in AmericaBlog, but "this is beyond the pale." Newsmax.com columnist John L. Perry wrote a column saying there's a growing chance the military will intervene to resolve what Perry called the "Obama problem." If Democrats don't stand up and shut down this kind of right-wing talk right now, "I fear we are going to see violence in this country." (Newsmax has taken down Perry's column, but you can read an excerpt at Media Matters)

The right doesn't have "a monopoly on paranoid ranters," said Ed Morrissey in Hot Air. Writer Gore Vidal—who backed President Obama's candidacy—agrees with John Perry that we're heading for military dictatorship, and "both men blame Barack Obama." Perry shared his "lunatic fantasy" because he can't think of a non-violent alternative to a coup—but there's one alternative that has worked for 220 years—elections. The best thing to do is ignore these nuts until they come to their senses.

Don't tell me to chill just because "Newsmax is a way-out-there, UFO-sighting, fringe right publication," said Kathy Kattenburg in The Moderate Voice. "I know it is. But just to see something like this anywhere is extremely scary, and hey, Newsmax says we should take it seriously, so maybe we should."

AMERICA WHERE ARE YOU?

Let me start off by saying I love to see the free exercise of our Constitutional rights, that’s what America is all about. I only have one question concerning some recent protests I have observed. The protesters were chanting give us America back and my question is, who took it and where did it go? So what is it they want back? What actually was taken from them? Was it there right to protest? No that can't be it. Was it there right to free speech? nope that don't seem to be it either.Oh I got it! There right to bear arms? No, no, no, I thought I saw some folks wearing side arms in public, so that's not it.Hmmmm I wonder what it could be? Oh I know the right to pursue the American dream, Gee I don't know maybe not, after all, everyone has the right to work hard, make the right decisions for themselves, and spend their money any way they choose. Bingo I got it! Religious persecution that must be it,oh heck no, now that I think about it. I remember just last Sunday I saw church parking lots full and people of all faiths, worshiping at the church of their choice so that's out. Man, evidently I am out of touch with reality. According to the protesters my life is more suppressed than I thought. I guess my life today and my liberty to go and do and think as I please and to pursue happiness is not quite as good as in the America that was supposedly stolen from us.
